Rajesh Nagpal salutes Sachin Tendulkar

'People throw stones and you have to convert them into milestones' - this is a quotable quote from our own master blaster, the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Just like the quote, so true to life, he himself has been grounded to earth at all times in his sporting career - despite the astronomical height he gained. Just like everyone else, life was not a cake walk for him. He too had quite a few tough moments but he conquered them smilingly, with his dedication and winning spirit.

With 15,921 runs in 200 test matches at an average of 53.78 and 18,426 runs in 463 one-dayers at an average of 44.83, Sachin Tendulkar has created a benchmark that is nearly impossible to be crossed in this millennium (unless some cricket players of younger generation take my statement as a challenge and really stretch themselves to break this record!).

Even if someone tries to reach these numbers, they would certainly sweat after looking at 100 centuries made by him, 49 in one-days and 51 in Test matches! Then there are 164 half-centuries and 74 innings where the competition could not get his wicket as he remained NOT OUT!

And if someone is that good a batsman to reach near to these magical figures, then I'm sure he will not be able to show match Sachin's bowling skills - can you believe that he took 190 wickets in total - 146 in one-days and 54 in test matches!

By no means I'm scaring the younger generation of cricketers. At the bottom of their hearts, they would themselves know what a player Sachin has been. They themselves would be saluting him for his achievements - and with all good wishes for his next innings in life, I stand in front of his massive poster pasted on my wall and salute! With eternal warmth in my heart and with extra dosage of emotions running all across my soul, I am shouting on top of my voice - "Well done Sachin! You have made India proud!"

And this is what I call 'Incredible India'.
